The Road to CPD23 - Week 2 - Me & My Name

Having searched the internet I was surprised to discover that over 3,700,000 results came back with my name.  Oh well there goes the idea that I was unique.  Lots of the results brought up Facebook profiles, LinkedIn, even Myspace - none of them is me as I have no profiles with these sites.

However I share namesakes with a planning lawyer, artistic director, an actress (hadn't heard of her until now, based in the West Midlands), a nanny (must have a patience of a saint) and a web designer and I am sure many others - dotted around all over the world.

The Road to CPD23 Week 1

The task in hand looking at other people's blogs

I've had a chance to look at:

Stephen Gregory's blog (my colleague sat opposite me in this freezing! shivering! I could go on place we call work).  He is making great progess with his

Karen Blakeman's blog - information professional and freelance consultant who specialises in business and market intelligence information amongst others.  Always good to keep ahead with whats out there

Phil Bradley's blog - very informative and interesting posts about Google and the old Wembley stadium

I am sure there are lots more out there.  However time is in short supply.

Why I Am Here - The Road to Professional Development

I am quite new to the information and knowledge profession - recently qualified.  Yay more letters after my name!  However I've worked within a government library and in another life a publications centre for some time - not enough to collect a pension!  Why am I doing 23 Things for CPD:

  • to move with the times and get to grips with social media and its benefit for me in my day to day work and professional life;
  • to gain more skills and experience - be ready (or catch-up with the web 2.0 revolution);
  • to feel confident in using these types of tools e.g. blogging, Twiiter;
  • to continue CPD outside conventional forms of training.
Hope the journey is a good one.
